“Don’t stay in your lane.” More great advice from #JamieDimon. In today’s complex, distributed, and rapidly changing business environment, #leadership blindspots are abundant. Practicing organizational #stewardship (a sense of accountability to support the organization’s goals and principles), being #curious (not a cynic as Dimon notes) in questioning “stupid things”, and displaying the #courage to bring issues and ideas forward are all critical to driving continuous improvement. Dimon also notes that every employee should have what I call a “systems mindset”. In other words, recognize that what you do impacts what others do. Take the time to understand how your role fits within the broader organizational system.
These ideas help increase the capacity of the organization to do more through the elimination of blindspots that often lead to breakdowns in efficiency.
As George Carlin once said, “The status quo sucks”.
Practice #stewardship. Be #curious. Display #courage.
